What a compact kitchen does to a Sub-Zero
Sub-Zero builds its built-ins to disappear into the millwork, and each one exhausts its heat through a vent either up high or down by the toe kick. That design works well in a big kitchen with room to breathe. In a condo or a small house in West LA, the same unit may share a wall with an oven, sit next to a dishwasher that vents warm steam, or face a countertop where a coffee machine and a toaster run every morning. None of that is wrong, but it raises the temperature of the air the refrigerator has to breathe.
